ThrillingNameless is one of my favorite characters to read about。 This particular time left mystery throughout and as usual I read it in less than two hours。 Highly recommend entire series。 Thank you to Dean Koontz and Amazon Prime for this free edition。

I liked the last “season” of Nameless and had hoped that it was a portent of Koontz getting his mojo back。If Lost Soul of the City， the first book in the new season， is any sign， then that was wasted hope。This first book is Koontz going back to his old （new） tricks of overwriting and delivering basically nothing except soapbox to spew a diatribe against guns， politics， and the state of the world in 2021。 In other words， typical 21st century Koontz， typical disappointment。I think I could have for I liked the last “season” of Nameless and had hoped that it was a portent of Koontz getting his mojo back。If Lost Soul of the City， the first book in the new season， is any sign， then that was wasted hope。This first book is Koontz going back to his old （new） tricks of overwriting and delivering basically nothing except soapbox to spew a diatribe against guns， politics， and the state of the world in 2021。 In other words， typical 21st century Koontz， typical disappointment。I think I could have forgiven Koontz a bit if he had just written this straightforward and to the point。 But the fact that he tried so hard to be edgy， yet at the same time so out of touch with reality， makes this that much harder to swallow。 。。。more

Cold， Detached & Cerebral - “The Lost Soul of the City” is installment 1 of a new 6 part series by Dean Koontz， （Nameless: Season Two）。With a background labyrinth of sewers， uber intelligent antagonist and partners that are a 16 year old street wise teen and an amnesiac under cover agent， this is one twisted psychological thriller。Koontz tells the story in the 3rd person format which gives it an additional feeling of separation and distance。 It’s like we’re the producer viewing a movie; watching Cold， Detached & Cerebral - “The Lost Soul of the City” is installment 1 of a new 6 part series by Dean Koontz， （Nameless: Season Two）。With a background labyrinth of sewers， uber intelligent antagonist and partners that are a 16 year old street wise teen and an amnesiac under cover agent， this is one twisted psychological thriller。Koontz tells the story in the 3rd person format which gives it an additional feeling of separation and distance。 It’s like we’re the producer viewing a movie; watching all the parts happen， looking for clues。 It’s both brilliant and uncomfortable。The partner pair is probably the most unique I’ve ever experienced in a story。 This is where short form fiction shows it’s weakness in that character development suffers due to lack of time。 These guys have a chance because there are 5 more opportunities for them to “live”。 I’m looking forward to their growth。Excellent plotting， premise， tension and all the great stuff that puts Koontz at the top of charts and best of all， he keeps it all basically clean。 This is great， intelligent fiction📚 。。。more
